Transfer stock to another PC

Do you need TransStock Reinstall or switch PCs? On this page I explain when you should choose a new installation and when a Transmission It's better. You'll receive a short step-by-step plan, a checklist, and the most common pitfalls. This way, TransStock will be installed on your system quickly and correctly, without losing any data.

When is a new installation necessary?

• You are using a new computer without previous TransStock installation.
• Your previous installation was corrupt or was deleted by a system restore.
• You start fresh with the latest version and do not want to take any old settings with you.

When is a transfer necessary?

• You are moving from old PC → new PC while preserving your profiles, lists and layouts.
• You can reinstall Windows/Mac whenever you want own settings put back.
• You want time saving by not reconfiguring everything.

New installation – step-by-step plan

1. Check system requirements and close unnecessary apps. See: System Requirements.
2. Download the most recent setup via your account. Use Forgot password if necessary (do not register again).

3. Install (Windows: "Run as administrator"). Install the required components.
4. Activate with username and serial number (can be found in your account/order email).
5. Initialize dataDownload price history and market database. Wait until the first sync is complete.

Transferring Transstock to another PC – step-by-step plan

1. Transferring TransStock to another PC starts with a backup on the 'old' PC 
2. Start TransStock and select Dashboard from the menu at the top
3. Select the Backup icon. And select the items you want: profiles, custom lists, and templates.

   • On the new PC, follow the same steps and select the items to restore: Choose here only what you need!
     Typically these are selections and tabs.
4. Click on Backup (New PC) and in the next window select CompuGraphics Server as a location.

4. Install TransStock on the new PC (see new installation steps 1–3).

5. Restore backup – same steps, menu > dashboard > backup icon > select items in restore if not already done.
Click restore and choose CompuGraphics server again

6. Activate and enter a short integrity check out (open lists/graphs, check data dates).

Checklist before you start

• Do you have stable internet and sufficient disk space?
• To be license data (username + serial number) at hand?
• Is antivirus on break/exception for the installer and the TransStock folder?
• Do you know where your own profiles/lists stand for backup?

Common mistakes & quick fixes

• Setup stops prematurely: run the installer again as administrator (Windows).
• Serial number invalid: Copy/paste directly from your account; be careful with spaces and O/O swapping.
• Data missing after recovery: check folder paths and run the first data synchronization out again.
• Duplicate usage detected: Log out on the old device and then activate on the new one.
