GDPR/AVG Compliance and CompuGraphics Products

CompuGraphics develops software, services, and applications designed to facilitate screen recording, visual creation, and video production. The content generated with our tools may contain personal data about you or third parties. CompuGraphics is committed to ensuring that such information is protected in accordance with all relevant legislation, including the European Union's General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

What is the GDPR?

The GDPR is a comprehensive regulation that standardizes data protection law across all EU member states and came into force on May 25, 2018. Its main purpose is to mandate the secure and lawful processing of personal data, ensuring individuals' consent and protection against unauthorized access or misuse.

What is personal information?

Under the GDPR, personal information includes any data relating to an identifiable individual. This broad definition means that various types of content captured in screenshots or videos can be considered personal data, especially if they directly or indirectly identify an individual.

CompuGraphics' role under the GDPR

When you use CompuGraphics products, the resulting content is often stored locally on your device or network, making you responsible for GDPR compliance. However, CompuGraphics also offers services for storing, sharing, and collaborating on content, which involve the processing of personal data.

In this context there are two primary roles:

  • Processing controller: the entity that determines the purposes and means of the processing of personal data.
  • Processor: the entity that processes personal data on behalf of the controller.

As a user of CompuGraphics content storage and sharing services, you act as a data controller, while CompuGraphics acts as a data processor, processing information solely based on your instructions and not for its own purposes without your explicit consent.

Responsibilities and actions

For personal use, the GDPR provides exceptions for data used solely for personal or household activities. Nevertheless, CompuGraphics, as your data processor, complies with GDPR obligations.

Business users must assess the personal data collected using CompuGraphics tools, the purposes of the data use, and the location of individuals whose data may be captured to determine whether they meet GDPR compliance requirements. This may include concluding a data processing agreement (DPA) with CompuGraphics.
